YOEST CALLS ON CONGRESS TO RESPECT THE LAW AND VOTE NO ON THE ABORTION-FUNDING HEALTH CARE BILL
“They don’t have the votes,” she notes.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Americans United for Life Action President Dr. Charmaine Yoest today joined the rally of Americans opposed to the current health care bill in the shadow of the Capitol and called on Congress to respect the law of the land and refuse the most massive increase in taxpayer funding of abortion in the nation’s history.
“The bottom line is they do not have the votes,” said Yoest, the president of the nation’s oldest pro-life organization. Yoest joined with grassroots leaders and fellow citizens calling for a No Vote on the health care reform package, and was among the luminaries and national leaders who stood together on the eve of the heath care vote to make one last appeal.
“Never before in the history of this country have taxpayer dollars been seized like this to expand federal funding of abortion,” noted Dr. Yoest. “This vote will count when the House and Senate go before their constituents, no matter the kind of verbal gymnastics employed by the pro-abortion lobby. A Yes vote for this bill is a vote to fund abortion with tax dollars which more than seven out of ten Americans oppose. In fact, this is the only bi-partisan agreement we’ve seen in the health care debate.”
“Whether Republican or Democrat, whether pro-life or pro-choice, the American people do not want Uncle Sam in the abortion business. AUL Action asks the House to respect the wishes of their fellow citizens and vote No.”
