Video: Boehner brings up abortion funding at Health Care Summit

February 25, 2010

Boehner’s remarks

β€œLet me just make one other point. For 30 years, we’ve had a federal law that says that we’re not going to have taxpayer funding of abortions. We have had this debate in the House. It was a very serious debate. But in the House, the House spoke. The House upheld the language we have had in law for 30 years that there will be no taxpayer funding of abortions. This bill that we have before us, and there was no reference to the issue in your outline, Mr. President, begins for the first time in 30 years allows the taxpayer funding of abortion.”

Update: Later in the afternoon, Speaker Nancy Pelosi took issue with Boehner’s remarks. She said, “I don’t want our listeners or viewers to get the wrong impression” when it comes to abortion funding. “Mr. Boehner, the law of the land is that there is no public funding of abortions and there is no public funding of abortions in this bill,” Pelosi says.

It is the same. President Obama is not at all intereste in working with anyone. Either you agree with him or it is your fault for not cooperating and compromising. Compromise Obama-style means doing whatever he says. He does not care what the Republicans have to say and offer. He does not care what the American people want or have to offer. He does not even care about the Democrates. He is a one-sided selfish person. He is a big talker with no meaning coming out of his mouth. His actions appear to me as that of a dictator and he is getting quite frustrated that everyone is not bowing down and doing exactly what he says when he says it.

What I like about Boehner, is that he sticks to his values. Not many conservatives do that and another person who does is Marco Rubio

You know Cathy, in the Public Relations world, they call this two-way asymmetrical communication. It’s where organizations speak with their publics and mutual understanding is supposed to take place, but only so that the organization can persuade the public to accept the organization’s point of view. President Obama has tried to communicate Obamacare to the American people, but even at the grassroots level, it was rejected. It’s all washing over him like water off a duck’s back

Thank you, Rep. Boehner, for a clear, concise statement about this issue.

Obama’s response tells it all. It is how HE sees it and he is not open to any debate or compromise on how HE intends things to be.

His election was a serious mistake for our republic and the only saving grace is that our eyes have been opened, Americans have set out to be better informed and to take an active role in cleaning out Congress and the Oval Office.
