Capitol Hill needs to hear your voice on Sotomayor

July 9, 2009

Capitol HillAs you know, on this coming Monday the Senate Judiciary Committee will begin confirmation hearings on President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Judge Sonia Sotomayor.  We’ve been meeting with U.S. Senators on Capitol Hill to provide them the research from our legal team about Judge Sotomayor’s judicial philosophy and her long, troubling record of high-level involvement with a radical abortion-advocacy group, the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.  (You can also find this information at Sotomayor411.com/.)

I am convinced that the Senators are taking this confirmation hearing very seriously.  However, we are getting feedback from them that they need to hear from the grassroots.  Some of their colleagues need to have reinforcement and be encouraged to ask questions that strike at the core of Judge Sotomayor’s history of judicial interference and her participation in the Fund’s pro-abortion agenda — the message from our meetings on the Hill is that all of the Senators need to hear from the American people.  Remember, the Senators on the Judiciary Committee, in their role of casting an up or down vote on a nominee, represent all Americans, not just their own constituency.

Americans United for Life Action has created a quick and easy way for you to write the members of the Committee to let them know that you, as a pro-life American, want them to ask the questions that are necessary to bring Judge Sotomayor’s views and record into sharp focus.
